Switzerland

These first few photos are taken from a trail along Lake Geneva that started at the hotel we were staying at.

This building with the red roof was the hotel we stayed in on Lake Geneva in the town Lausanne where Jason's conference was.  The tallest spire there is part of the original castle.

A dress I saw at the Olympic museum...the alps!  Not sure if it is actually wearable.

Lake Geneva

These next pictures are from the hike we took in the Luaterbrunnen Valley between the towns of Murren and Grimmelwald.  These are actual villages.

The cow bells were continually ringing.

This is at the top of the alps at Stechelburg.  Pretty cold up there.

This is in the town of Lauterbrunnen.  The waterfall came out of the mountain, we hiked up to that point.  It is a very picturesque little town.

The Switzerland temple.  The first in Europe.

This is a major shopping street in the capital city of Bern.  They have old cellars for each apartment and people even have stores or boutiques in the cellars.

These next two pictures are also in Bern.

This is the village of Gruyere.  One of our favorite places.  You can see part of the castle in the village at in the back here.  They speak french here.

This is the Chateau de Chillon.  Well preserved castle, really amazing.  The french occupied it for many years until the house of Bern (swisse) took it over.  Lord Byron wrote a famous poem here (which I had never heard of but that isn't saying much.  It's called the Prisoner of Chillon).  He carved his name into a pillar in the dungeon.
